Ok, this is the funniest headline I've seen in quite awhile, so go to this website:
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2006/09/02/ap/tech/mainD8JSEURO0.shtml and read about hedgehog safety!

In other news, I'm all settled in my dorm room and am getting used to campus life. The dining hall food doesn't suck that bad, I've eaten healthier meals there than I have for months. Lot's of salads, fruit, and water. And classes aren't that bad either. The homework sucks, and World Thought and Culture always has the air conditioner on past durability, but altogether I think I might make it through the semester. Pool on Saturday nights makes everything a little more interesting. I'm actually beginning to learn how to play the game without too much mishap.

I'm going to go do something productive now, so don't forget to go to that website and I will write more when I think there is something interesting to write about!

my graduation speech thus far.....

Ever sit and watch ants? If you look closely, they can carry a crumb way bigger than they are and still RUN , and if you put an obstacle in front of them, they’ll scramble like crazy until they get across it, they don’t let anything stop them.

I just can’t identify with that kind of work ethic.

But this I can identify with:

Don’t quit when the tide is lowest,
For it’s just about to turn;
Don’t quit over doubts and questions,
For there’s something you may learn.

Don’t quit when the night is darkest,
For it’s just a while ‘til dawn;
Don’t quit when you’ve run the farthest,
For the race is almost won.

Don’t quit when the hill is steepest,
For your goal is almost nigh’
Don’t quit,
For you’re NOT a failure
Until you fail to try.

I quit Safeway. My third day I went in, checked my duties for the day, checked my schedule for next week, and left. Didn't even clock in. You want to know how bad it was? Worse than Taco Bell. The trash at Safeway made me love Taco Bell. Normally trash duties were assigned to courtesy clerks every once in awhile. The same person wasn't supposed to do it every day. I had to do trash three days in a row. On the schedule it said I would have to do trash again, so I left. To give you an idea about why i don't like trash.... It takes two of us over an hour to take out the trash. And the meat department has blood in their trash. And the dairy department has rotten eggs. Sorry.... I couldn't handle that. And they scheduled me on weekends when I specifically told them I couldn't work on weekends. I don't know if I'll get paid for the time i DID work, but I really could care less. I wasn't happy there, and I'd prefer not having a job ( or rather, just working at Taco Bell ) then go back there again.

What's been going on lately.... hmmm....

Last week was the Bank of America Scholarship Competition in Redding. I was kinda sad that I missed the senior breakfast to go, but I went knowing that whatever happened I would come home with promises of a $500 check within the next three months. And I came home in awe of Shannell Keck and Alex Vigil. The ability to come up with so many allusions and brilliant points within thirty minutes and to present them in a way to make me hate having to go after them blows me out of the water. I had first, second, and third places picked out before I left the room, and I was so inspired by them I didn't mind coming in fourth. It was worth it just to be there.

Another thing that surprised me was the fact that my best friend from fourth grade was there. She was in the Fine Arts category, while I was in Applied Arts, so we didn't have to compete against each other, but it was great seeing her again and having someone to sit with during the banquet. And the banquet was the best food I've ever had at a dinner when you don't get to order your own food.

And then Paul came home for the weekend, and Ayla came back from college. So Paul got me out of work 15 minutes early by sucking up to David and Colin, Paul, Ayla, and I got to see Over the Hedge and then stand outside Taco Bell for an hour in the freezing cold. It was great actually hanging out with people again.

And one month left of school! YAY!
I start Safeway tomorrow. Now it's no longer "Would you like any hot, mild, or fire sauce with that?" it's "Would you like any help carrying your bags to your car?" LOL. We'll see how this job turns out. :)

Q. When he went, had you gone and had she, if she wanted to and were able, for the time being excluding all the restraints on her not to go, gone also, would he have brought you, meaning you and she, with him to the station?

MR. BROOKS: Objection. That question should be taken out and shot.

Eisenberg "Handbook of Skits and Stunts"

I love that quote. Found it in the above book at the house we stayed at in La Pine when we went to Mt. Bachelor. Good book, I might just have to buy it.

As for snowboarding... I think I have whiplash from falling too hard too many times. My definition of the sport is living from one fall to the next. Don't get me wrong, I had a lot of fun, but I was so sore the next day it wasn't even funny. I wish I could go back tomorrow when I'm not so sore and go down the Coffee Run again. With a coffee. Or not.

Hot tubs are fun.

And the game Pit.

Oh, and I'm a Bank of America scholarship finalist. I get to go to Redding on May 17 and compete against other Applied Arts finalist for some money. Prepare a statement about stuff I don't know and deliver it to judges who'll probably know I'm making everything up. Either way, it's for money, and I can deal with that.

Sarah's smile is available....

... at College of the Redwoods for $330. This is a sale! So those of you that never see Sarah smile (heaven forbid), you can still attain that wonderful expression for this limited time only!

And another way to say that the pain in climbing the mountain is worth the view:

And You said, "I know that this will hurt,
but if I don't break your heart, things will just get worse.
If the burden seems too much to bear,
remember...
The end will justify the pain it took to get us there."

...Or close enough

On another note, I received 10,900 a year in Financial Aid from Corban College. Assuming I maintain class rank 1 and a 4.0 GPA for the rest of this year. Which assumes means I must actually begin to study for Physics. I'd rather just run away from studying in that class in much the same way Sarah runs from Calculus. It would be the easiest, though not the most beneficial way to handle things.

When your will becomes too weak.... Run AWAY!

Honey, I love you.....

I'm sorry honey, I love you too, but I can not smile

'Cause I've been housing all these doubts and insecurities
And I've been locked inside this house
All the while you hold the key....

Was listening to this song on the way to school today. It's sunny today, and despite my preference towards rain, I'm enjoying the weather. Last semester of high school started this week, and I'm pretty sure I pulled off straight A's again last semester. And my uncle says if I keep my A's this semester he'll help grandma get me a laptop for graduation. I don't know if that'll actually happen even if I do keep my grades up, but it's a nice thought anyway.

I don't know if I'm still going to be tutoring anymore, hopefully the verdict will come out innocent for Capocci and I'll be help to keep that little side job, but for the meantime, it's nice having my afternoons to myself.

Got to see Pride and Prejudice!

Relient K - High Of 75 Lyrics
We were talking together
I said, "what's up with this weather?"
Dont know whether or not
How sad I just got
'Cause on my own volition.
What if I'm just missing the sun

And tomorrow, I know,
Will be rainy at best.
And the forecast, I know,
Is that I'll be depressed.

But I'll wait outside
Hopin that I'll catch sight of the sun.

[Chorus:]
Because on and off,
The clouds have fought
Their controll over the sky

And lately the weather
Has been so Bi-polar
And Consequently so have I

And now I'm sunny with a High
of 75
Since You took my heavy heart
And made it light

And its funny how you find
You enjoy your life
When you're happy to be alive

[Chorus]

And the temprature is freezing
And then, after dark,
There is a cold frost sweeping
In over my heart

And we might break up
If I dont wake up to the sun

[Chorus]

Sunny with a High of 75
Since You took my heavy heart
And made it light (made it light)

And its funny how you find
You enjoy your life
When you're happy to be...
Alive

Essay notes...

Strength - the extent to which muscles can exert force by contracting against resistance (holding or restraining an object or person)
Power - the ability to exert maximum muscular contraction instantly in an explosive burst of movements (Jumping or sprint starting)
Agility - the ability to perform a series of explosive power movements in rapid succession in opposing directions (ZigZag running or cutting movements)
Balance - the ability to control the body's position, either stationary (e.g. a handstand) or while moving (e.g. a gymnastics stunt)
Flexibility - the ability to achieve an extended range of motion without being impeded by excess tissue, i.e. fat or muscle (Executing a leg split)
Local Muscle Endurance - a single muscle's ability to perform sustained work (Rowing or cycling)
Cardiovascular Endurance - the heart's ability to deliver blood to working muscles and their ability to use it (Running long distances)
Strength Endurance - a muscle's ability to perform a maximum contracture time after time (Continuous explosive rebounding through an entire basketball game)
Co-ordination - the ability to integrate the above listed components so that effective movements are achieved.

Somehow the above elements need to be incorporated into a fitness report that is due for independent study p.e. on friday. You'd think if I'd wanted to write an essay I would have taken health.... Grrrness....

Guess what! I got accepted to Corban! The guy that came down and talked to me at our high school called me last night and informed me that I finally had all my information in and that I was ready to proceed to the next step. Aka college and financial information.. So now I have to worry about paying for my education. *gasp* 24,400 a year! YAY for scholarships! Yeah, I only applied to one college, expected to get in, and did! No stress levels rising there!

Took one of those random quiz thingys. Apparently my perfect major is engineering, followed closely by mathematics. Well whadaya know? Pretty much what I plan to do...lol. Those quiz makers know too much about me *darty eyes*

Apparently now that I don't have a job besides tutoring I have way too much time. Lots of time for Calculus and DDR.... This may call for a return to Taco Bell. LOL!

One of the most frustrating things in the world is receiving an email from the head of the math department, a christmas letter from this representative that you met when he came to your school, and a christmas letter from the admissions department of the college you plan to attend. AND NO LETTER OF ACCEPTANCE YET! Apparently they are just waiting on my transcript. Does it really take that long for two transcripts to be sent from California to Oregon? Egads....

And I no longer work at Taco Bell. *tear* As much as I got frustrated working there, I really do miss having something to do in the evenings. I got to talk to people there, got out of my bubble, and I know I'm going to miss the paycheck. I don't think I could've stayed there much longer anyway. I really miss Paul... Somehow I think he was the reason I stayed there that long. He was fun to work with, even when one of us was in a bad mood. But now he's gone. Yet another friend taken away by college....

Oh! Internship at Oak Ridge..... hmmmm.... Too bad it's in Tennessee! Or else I'd so go for that. To work with technology and get paid 300 a week..... NICE!

Myself
I am driving
I am late for work
Spilling coffee down my whitest shirt
While I'm flossing and I'm changing lanes
Oh Yeah

Now I'm driving
Through the parking lot
Doing eighty, hey what the heck why not
Watch it lady, Cuz you’re in my spot
Once again, It's early to work
And here's a surprise, I got a
McMuffin for just 99 cents today
I think they ran a special

CHORUS:
I can't stand still Can I get a witness
Can you hear me Anybody, Anybody
I think I am running just to catch myself

Maybe someday I could fly away
Go to Key Largo or Montego Bay
Sport my Speedo, maybe grab a tan
DREAM VACATION, WILD ELATION
Now I'm running
Straight into my boss
And he's angry, Oh and he calls me Ross
Which is funny, cause that ain’t my name

And that’s lame
I'm still running
Running very late, For a meeting
Wait, that was yesterday
Guess I'm early for the one next week, Oh how sweet
I get on the ladder, I corporately climb
I wave at my life as it passes me by everyday
My name's not Ross!

CHORUS

Life in my cubicle is discreet, Life in my cubicle is neat
I've got some pictures of my friends
Some sharpened pencils...where's my pen
Ten O'clock I'm in a meeting
Paper cut I think I'm bleeding
Check my hair it's still receding, Hey what a life
Break for lunch, there's nothing better
Run outside and don my sweater
Like Fred Rogers let's be neighbors
I've lost my mind
I'm over worked, and underpaid, and non appreciated

It's just a perk of being of being middle class and educated
One... spinning circles in my chair
Two...win a game of solitaire
Three... And I ponder where my stapler's gone
Four O'clock and I stare at the door,
And I stare at my watch, Then I stare at the door
I stand by my desk like I'm going to war
There's just one thing I'll be needing
Grab my paycheck as I'm leaving
Oh oh oh oh oh oh ohhhhhhh
Five O'clock it's time to go
There's crowds to fight and time to blow
It's talking fast on my cell phone
Hey, watch out that’s reckless driving!
Five O'clock

It's time to hit the couch and watch TV
Set the clock and go to sleep
It's 8 a.m. on Monday morning
Again and again and again and again and again
Driving around, no where to go
And so I hang with my lady,
Oh, and chill with my bros
It's okay, in my Cabriolet

CHORUS

When I meet God, I will have a question
I just forgot the question
I think I am running just to catch myself
Oh oh oh
Oh oh oh

Swept in the wind

If you read this, if your eyes are passing over this right now, even if we don't speak often, please post a comment with a memory of you and me. It can be anything you want- good or bad. When you're finished, post this little paragraph on your blog and be surprised (or mortified) about what people remember about you.

Just because... the penguins told me to do it.

Everything becomes much better when you're listening to music. Even if it is the numa numa song on repeat :)

Finding it hard to concentrate in school now. I inherited senioritis my sophmore year and the real effects appear to be coming out this year. I'm still pulling through, but not with the grades I want to. All I want to do is work right now... Frustrating!

On another note, birthday party is saturday and I have the day off for it. Only a couple of people can come, but I'm sure we'll be able to have fun anyway. As I said, everything becomes better with good music.

Wassail, wassail, all over the town
Our toast it is white and our ale it is brown,
Our bowl it is made of the white maple tree,
With the wassailing bowl, we'll drink to thee.
Drink to thee, drink to thee,
With a wassailing bowl we'll drink to thee.

I got to serve at the Pregnancy Care Center Banquet and we toasted each other with Wassail afterwards. And then followed it with some carrot cake and the others with pizza. The fairgrounds looked so pretty! It may not even be Halloween yet, but the theme was Winter Wonderland, and was decorated accordingly. My favorite author, Francine Rivers, was the special guest speaker and I got to listen to her speak. My mom bought me my favorite book by her and got it signed as an early birthday present!

On another note, Dance Dance Revolution Mario was out yesterday for GameCube! And my birthday is coming...... :)
